Tooth bonding is a cosmetic dental treatment that can have many applications and is suitable for patients of all ages. We may recommend the use of tooth bonding to address minor cosmetic concerns, tooth damage, or to balance a misaligned bite. Tooth bonding can often provide an instant and more economical smile makeover compared to dental veneers.
Dr. Bryan Bumpas is an Edmond, OK dentist that offers dental bonding to patients with a variety of dental concerns. Tooth bonding offers quick, natural-looking results with minimal need for tooth preparation. Because dental bonding is not considered a permanent solution, it is often recommended for younger patients and adult patients who are not ready for the time and cost associated with the porcelain veneer process.
Dental Bonding Treatment
We will begin by numbing the area to be treated and making sure you feel comfortable as we prepare the tooth and complete the process. The next step is to prepare the tooth, or teeth, to be treated by etching the surface. Dr. Bumpas will color match the composite resin material for sculpting. It is molded over an adhesive gel placed on the tooth. After the resin has been applied, we use an LED light to harden the resin. The resin is finally polished after it is cured.
Tooth Bonding FAQs
How long does tooth bonding last?
Dental bonding does not last as long as alternatives like porcelain veneers or dental crowns. However, with proper care and maintenance, you can expect the bonding to last five years or more. Avoid smoking or drinking too many enamel-staining drinks such as soda, tea, and coffee to maintain the best results.
How much does tooth bonding cost?
Dental bonding is a relatively affordable procedure and is typically covered by dental insurance. We accept most dental insurance and will handle all of the necessary billing and paperwork to help you maximize your dental insurance benefits.
