In the event of a dental emergency, please contact Prairie Dental Group at 405.254.0656.
If you have an emergency during business hours, call our office to discuss your concerns and schedule an appointment. We will return your message as soon as possible to schedule your appointment for the next day.
Dental emergencies can occur at any time and impact people of all ages. Trauma is the common cause of dental emergencies, but there are ways to help prevent the sudden onset of infection or to reduce your risk for damaged teeth. Regular dental care is important and can help you avoid infection, repair tooth damage, and keep your teeth and gums healthy.
To help prevent accidents during sports, we provide patients with a custom-fit mouthguard. Mouthguards are designed to remain in place to protect teeth from chips, cracks, and other damage. Contact sports can put anyone at risk for tooth damage or even a knocked-out tooth. Dr. Bryan Bumpas can fit patients of all ages for a custom mouth guard for sports.
Emergency Dental FAQs
What should I do if my tooth gets knocked out?
In the event that your tooth gets knocked loose or comes completely dislodged, contact our office immediately. You can stop bleeding using a clean damp cloth and apply slight pressure to the gum. Try to locate the tooth. If you find the tooth, or pieces of the tooth, only handle them by the crown or top of the tooth. Gently rinse the tooth, place the tooth in a glass of your own saliva, or in a glass of milk, and bring the tooth with you to your emergency dental visit. If Dr. Bumpas cannot reattach the tooth, he offers dental implants to replace single or multiple missing teeth.
Why do I have tooth pain?
Tooth pain could be a result of several dental concerns. If you are experiencing intense or shooting tooth pain, contact our Edmond, OK office right away. Most patients with tooth pain have a dental cavity and will require a dental filling or root canal.
What should I do if I have a broken dental restoration?
Do not attempt to replace a broken or lost dental restoration on your own. In the event that a dental crown or dental filling breaks or becomes dislodged, schedule an appointment so that we can safely and securely restore your dental restoration.
What do I do if I chipped my tooth?
Clean the area gently by rinsing it with water. Use over the counter pain relievers and cold compresses placed on the outside of the mouth to combat tooth pain. Do not place anything directly on the damaged area of the tooth.
